Dream Views (or DV to its familiars) is one of the main internet communities about lucid dreaming. It contains a comprehensive introduction to lucid dreaming and an active forum, which also contains tutorials on various topics, and users' dream journals. {C {C The main project behind this website is to offer a broad content concerning lucid dreaming, without relying on "new-ageish" subjects such as astral projection and the similar. Apart from the website itself, its forum is a meeting point to a wide community, providing extensive support to lucid dreaming.

Aesthetically, it has a cool, blue and gray theme. The site has changed from its phpBB software to Invision Power Board (IPB). However, due to member feedback, it was recently changed to vBulletin software.

As of March 2007, the forum was under new ownership by Top Cola Web Design, and the new owner, Asher, joined the community.

In December 2009, Top Cola Web Design sold the website. Its new owner, Alex, immediately made signifigant contributions to server speed and website functionality.

This website firstly introduces lucid dreaming and the website itself. Then it extends the concept of lucid dreaming into further articles, mentioning the advantages and rewards involved with it. It then presents the induction techniques. Finally, a reader comes to a page containing tutorials on different techniques. Something worth pointing out is that these tutorials are the ones located in the tutorials section of the community forum, written by Dreamviews' own staff group, the Dream Guides. There are also many member contributed tutorials, which were rigorously tested and proven under strict conditions before being incorporated as part of the official Dreamviews tutorial section

2012 Domain HijackingEdit

On January 22nd 2012 hackers who were tracked down in Russia began an operation that compromised the Dreamviews website and domain name. Accesses was gained to administration software that allowed the attackers to take over the websites email account and change the registrar for the DV domain name while also allowing for the forum and its databases to be cloned.

On February 20th 2012 the domain name was pointed to the cloned version of DV dubbed "fake DV". Members of the forum immediately noticed issues after 10 days worth of data was missing, due to the database dump aquired by the hackers having been stolen over a week prior.

"Fake DV" was promptly spammed in an act of defiance after it became clear the website had been compromised. Many staff and users were banned for alerting others of the hacking attack. The story became a publicized feature on The Lucid Inquirer blog some two days after "fake DV" launched.

Administration was forced to go through lawyers and authorities to allow for recovery and restoration of the domain.

All 40,000+ accounts on the Dreamviews website are believed to have had passwords and emails stolen, forcing users to quickly change passwords on other websites they use that may share the same details as their DV account. On February 27th 2012, the Dreamviews website switched over temporarily to Dreamviews.org. By the 19th of March the official .COM domain name was recovered.
